oh my lord has the weather been insane here. it’s the middle of november
and it’s been maybe a top of 13 today. It has consistently been cold all
spring. climate change! it’s messing up the seasons so bad that we are
getting autumn and winter weather two weeks out from summer. it’ s
consistently been cold all spring.
the strawberries went in about a month ago, but naturally, with the
miserable weather, they have produced perhaps 5 ripe fruits, all of
which have gone to the bugs.
i really wanted to grow cucumbers and watermelons this season, but i’m
not sure that they’ll be able to mature quick enough to bear any fruit
(are cucumbers fruit-bearing? produce-bearing? whatever) at all, and
might not even survive if i plant them yet, because we’re is still
getting frosts overnight. as a last resort, i had to plant the snack
cucumber seedling i naively bought over a month ago and i also planted 8
roma seedlings. tomatoes in the summer are an absolute essential to me
so i’m hoping the romas will be okay, i’ve generally found them to be
pretty hardy. However, i absolutely do not have any faith in the
cucumber. if they survive it is a miracle and has nothing to do with
me.
with no break in these below-25-degree days in sight, i suppose all i
can hope for is either an entirely mild summer or a hot march. if it’s
mild, then i won’t get my hopes too high, and if there’s a hot march,
then it gives everything time enough to mature. hopefully i can update
this with better news, and soon.

it's been raining so much here, so i don't think i'll be able to get outside
much in this weather, so i need to change the countdown. hopefully the
weather can clear up soon, i'd really like to get some strawberries in the
ground.

this is the first post. it's still winter here in australia, so there
isn't much that i can grow, except a patch of lettuces that seem to keep
spawning out of thin air ^^.
so, mostly i think this page will still around for the next couple
months, until i can actually start to get outside and do something.
this is the only photo i have from last years garden :) but it mostly looked like this for a whole summer
this is roughly the layout of my garden beds. there are four big ones and a narrow one at the end that i usually use to grow watermelon or pumpkins because it's near a wall, which keeps the vines mostly in check.
